MAY EDITION: Solace HQ

Welcome to a new monthly addition of the blog, where I will explain what we've been up to at Solace, and exciting news to come!

I will warn you now, being an ex-accountant, I am much more comfortable with numbers than I am words. If you are part of the grammar police, you may want to stick to our regular blog that is edited by the pro.

This is an unedited version straight from me, the founder.

Firstly, I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone who has been part of our story. If you are a regular reader of the blog, a customer, or a loyal fan, every one of you has shaped where we are today, and I am so proud to have helped over 20,000 people wear jewellery comfortably!

It has been an incredible journey since I started the business in 2015, we've gone from packing orders out of the bedroom and getting excited when we had 20 orders in one week, to 3 of us working out of a garage, to a dedicated office space and growing our team.

I wanted to start this edition to the blog to give an insight into the business, rather than being just another faceless brand.

So, what's been happening recently? Well, I am very excited to announce that we will be launching a fresh new look in June. We have completely re-branded, with an entirely new logo, new website, and all the packaging has been improved and I cannot wait to get it out there and see your reaction. Oh, and all of the emails, socials and anywhere and everywhere our logo is displayed needs to be changed, which Anneka (the creative one) is super happy about!

As if that wasn't enough, I have a second huge announcement to make. Along side the re-brand, we will also be launching a sister website, Solace Beauty.

Having learned a lot over the past 5 years about metal allergies and sensitive skin, and spoken to lots of amazing customers, it became obvious that there was a direct link with other skin problems such as eczema, and the feedback has been that it is not easy to find skincare that works, and is easy accessible.

Because I love to help others (and overload myself with work) I decided to try and source products that would help people with super sensitive skin, and found lots of brands that weren't stocked in Boots, or listed on Amazon because, as a small business owner myself, it is really hard to do! But, that doesn't mean the products aren't great.

That's when my vision for Solace Beauty: the home of clean, natural, indie beauty brands started to take shape. But, more on the launch will be revealed closer to the time. For now, I would be really grateful if you would give the new Instagram and Facebook channels a like, so you can be the first to see the fab range! Both handles are @solacebeautyuk

You may have already guessed that something big was coming if you saw our recent promotion. We hosted a flash sale at the end of April with different products being featured each day, which people seemed to really engage with and it was fun doing something different to the % off for bank holiday promotion everyone does.

We really don't want to be seen as a discount brand, we know the value of our products and we retail our products at a sensible price that is accessible for most. But, we have tons of new stock coming in regularly, and a relatively small office space to operate from, so be sure to check out our clearance stock every now and then where we list last seasons styles that only have a handful left. 

If you saw our Instagram story recently you will see I went to Ikea the other day to get a load more shelving to house some of this new stock. I think the next launch will be the biggest one yet, but it seems to always be that way now!

I also had another motive, I am sad to say that David, the guy who packs all of the orders and manages the stock, is leaving us at the start of June, and I really didn't want to have to put all of the new stock away myself as well as packing the orders while I look for a replacement! 

I'm thinking I will put a BOGOF offer on for the May bank holiday since he is b*ggering off, and make his last week a really busy one! What do you think, too mean?
