Halloween is just over two weeks away, so it’s time to start planning those all-important costumes. But with many of us feeling the pinch this year, spending money on an outfit we’re only going to wear once isn’t very appealing. But fear not, Solace is here to help with our pick of on-trend costumes that won’t break the bank.
From Stranger Things to Marvel, here’s 2022’s most sought after (and affordable!) looks.
Max from Stranger Things
This is a costume idea for all you lovely red heads out there! Dig out an old sports jacket and pop on some old school headphones and you’ve got a ready-made Max Mayfield from Stranger Things costume. Complete the look by belting out Kate Bush's ‘Running up that Hill’ on repeat all night.
Eddie Munson from Stranger Things
Staying on the Stranger Things vibe, another easy to recreate outfit is that of metalhead Eddie Munson.
Regardless of your gender, you can rock this grungey look with a pair of ripped jeans, a baseball tee and a denim vest. Throw is some chunky link or paperclip chains and a backcombed barnet and you’re good to go!
Wanda Maximoff from Wandavision
Wanda, or the scarlet witch, from Disney+’s Wandavision is set to be one of the most popular Halloween costumes for women this year. And luckily, it’s a surprisingly easy one to put together from clothes you already own.
First, dress all in red – it might be a dress, two piece or play-suit. Then add a cape and headpiece which you can easily DIY yourself from a piece of fabric and bit of cardboard.
Barbie and Ken
The new Barbie and Ken film might not be out until next year but behind the scenes photos of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as the iconic dolls have already broken the internet. So you can bet you’re going to see plenty of people dressed up as the power couple this spooky season.
To get the look, raid your wardrobe for anything pink, neon or covered in a retro print. Adding a cheap pair of leg warmers is also a must! Top off with a pair of classic gold hoop earrings.
The Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus
The Sanderson Sisters are another classic set of characters that are set to make a comeback this year thanks to the release of the long-awaited sequel to Hocus Pocus. They’re also the perfect choice if you’re looking for a great group costume.
To pull off their style, channel your inner goth and dig out your best velvet dresses, floaty sleeved blouses or corset tops. Then add some witchy accessories like a pair of our Star & Moon Huggie Hypoallergenic Earrings or our Black Cat Hypoallergenic Stud Earrings. Finish with a DIY cape made of either red, green or purple fabric.
