How to Celebrate Your Birthday in Lockdown

We’ve all had to make sacrifices over the last 12 months but one thing you should never have to compromise on is your birthday. Ok, so we know you can’t exactly head to the pub or have your friends round, but there are still plenty of ways you can make your big day special. In fact, by trying something a little different you can make it one to remember for all the right reasons

Treat Yourself to a Champagne Breakfast in Bed

Start the day of right by pouring yourself a mimosa and enjoying a decadent breakfast in bed. Either get someone you live with to cook your favourite morning meal or try your luck with deliveroo. You might just find your local cafe is now delivering the breakfast goods.

Get Dressed Up

Take a break from the lounge wear and put on your glad rags. The more dramatic the outfit the better. We’re talking sparkles, heels and the boldest lipstick you own. When it comes to jewellery, swap the stud earrings for some OTT hoops and layer up your necklaces for a touch of glam. In fact, if you want to have an outfit change in the middle of the day then go for it! Make yourself feel like the birthday queen that you are.

Pamper Yourself with a DIY Spa Day

Recreate the ultimate spa experience by treating yourself to some luxury pampering products. Think heated facemasks, exfoliating scrubs and relaxing aromatherapy oils. Or try making your own natural treatments yourself using any of the great recipes and tutorials you can find online.

Treat Yourself to Something Nice

Travel restrictions and lockdown rules are probably going to mean you’ll have less presents to open than usual. But that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to that special something you’ve had your eye on. Wrap up something sparkly and thank yourself for being so thoughtful. You deserve it.

Indulge in a Restaurant Quality Meal

With so many places now offering takeaway services, there’s no reason you can’t have a top-notch birthday meal delivered straight to your door. Or for that extra touch of class, opt for a fine dining option. Some of the best restaurants now also offer ‘cook at home’ boxes featuring their finest recipes and ingredients. So, set the table, light some candles and set someone else on with cooking duties whilst you enjoy a cheeky glass of wine (or three).

Have a Virtual Party

We know you’re probably suffering from zoom fatigue but why not switch things up with a downloadable theme night. Many companies now offer preplanned events for you and your friends to enjoy from the comfort of your own homes. From murder mystery evenings to life drawing, cocktail classes to games nights, there’s something for everyone. Because after all, that feeling of being together (even if it is through a screen) will be the best birthday gift of all.
