HOW TO STACK RINGS
Want to get on board with one of the most popular jewellery trends around but not sure how?
Fear not! We’re here to tell you all there is to know about the art of stacking rings.
It’s the trend that has everything covered – it’s cool, effortless and looks great with any ‘fit. Whether you’re all about chic, delicate bands or bold, show-stopping designs, this guide to stacking rings will help you take your jewellery game up a notch.
What Is A Stacking Ring?
Think of stacked rings as jewellery’s answer to the pick and mix. It’s a trend that allows you to wear a whole bunch of your favourite pieces together to create a look that’s both chic and understatedly cool.
As the name suggests, stacking rings involves curating a look on one or more fingers using multiple rings on top of each other. This might be all gold stacked rings or all silver stacked rings or a combination of them both. The beauty is that you have the freedom to use different shapes, sizes and colours to create an endless number of bold combos. But where should you start first?
Make Sure You Have The Right Components
Despite what you might think, you can completely nail ring stacking without breaking the bank. That’s because there are only four different styles that you’ll need to give yourself limitless stacking options: statement rings, delicate rings, stacking rings and midi rings. Let us tell you more about each one.
Statement Rings
A statement ring can be anything from a paved eternity ring to a signet type style like our daisy hypoallergenic ring. Make one of these pieces the focal point on your finger and build the rest of your stack using other rings that complement it.
Delicate Rings
Dainty and minimalistic rings are your best friends when it comes to stacking rings. Look out for rings that have thin bands and subtle details such as our CZ Star and Moon rings. These are perfect for layering together and will add an elegant touch to any look.
Stacking Rings
Stacking rings are simple, plain bands that have been specifically designed to sit on top of each other with ease. These could have either a smooth finish like our wavy stackable ring or be textured like our braided stackable ring.
Midi Rings
Midi Rings are designed to be worn on the middle of your finger or you can achieve the same look by buying an unembellished ring in a smaller size to your usual ring size. Our zig zag hypoallergenic ring would work particularly well for this.
Now you’ve got the components of a ring stack down, let’s get into how to combine them!
5 Tips For Ring Stacking
Tip 1: Less Is More
Stacking multiple rings on every finger probably isn’t going to give you that fashion blogger style you’re looking for. It’s likely to look a little messy and you’ll find it’s pretty impractical (especially if you need to use a keyboard!).
Instead, we recommend choosing one or two statement fingers and building your look around those. One of our favourite curated looks is to stack two or three rings on the same finger and then compliment it with one single ring on either side. Keeping at least one finger bare is also a good way to ensure that the details of each ring remain the key focus.
Tip 2: Mix Your Metals
Once you’ve had some fun getting all your favourite gold rings stacked, it’s time to get even more adventurous. It might have once been considered a fashion no-no to mix your metals but nowadays we’re all about blending silvers and golds to create a look that says you do things your way. This tip works particularly well with minimal bands where the finish is what draws the eye.
Try and achieve some balance by dispersing the colours evenly across your fingers rather than bunching them altogether. Almost all of the rings in our collection are available as a gold ring or silver ring option so you can get as creative as you like. Consider also adding both a silver bangle and gold bangle to tie the look together.
Tip 3: Switch Up Different Styles, Thicknesses and Shapes
Now is your time to be playful with different band weights and sizes. Wider bands look great when paired with thin, textured ones. Don’t be afraid to mix different aesthetic styles either. For example, mixing the crisp lines of our textured heart hypoallergenic ring with the whimsical curves of our adjustable wavy ring would create an interesting contrast. The best rule is to have no rules – that way you’ll find your signature combination by doing things differently.
Tip 4: Go From Day To Night With A Touch of Sparkle
Looking to spice up your evening look? Try adding some CZ sparkle to your ring stack. We have multiple CZ paved ring options for this, all of which could be elevated to glam perfection between two plain bands. We recommend sticking to clear crystals instead of coloured gems to keep the look balanced and sleek.
Tip 5: Let The Rings Do The Talking
By its very design, the stacking ring trend is going to draw attention to your hands. So once you’ve got your rings stacked you’ll want to make sure your nails are also part of the overall look. We recommended keeping them as natural as possible with a neutral shade of polish so as not to detract from the gorgeous pieces on your fingers. Or if you’re feeling bold, why not make a statement with a chic metallic colour for some uber cool edge.
You’ll also want to avoid overloading your jewellery elsewhere to allow the rings to take centre stage. A pair of timeless stud earrings and a delicate gold chain necklace are our top picks.
Ultimately, stacking rings is all about making a statement. And whatever that statement is should reflect your personal style.
Whether you purely opt for dainty and minimalistic bands or mix it up with embellishments and textures, the choice is yours.
Aim to do whatever feels like a good fit for you and have fun stacking those rings your own way!
