"Best earrings ever. I can live in the 24/7 with no reactions/itchiness. Recently got new piercings and put Solace studs in as soon as I was able to. Again, no problems whatsoever. Can't recommend enough."
— Lucie Solace Jewellery customer
“I've been wearing my new Solace earrings for a month now, all day, sleeping in them, showering in them and even swimming in them! They haven't tarnished at all. I'll be buying all my jewellery from here form now on. Thank you Solace!”

We're so confident that our jewellery will work for you that we offer a 100% happiness guarantee. This means that in the event that you react or you're not happy with your purchase, you can return your order.
The main culprit is usually copper, which is often used as the base metal for gold-plated jewellery, and is an alloy in silver jewellery. Your skin turns green when the copper in jewellery reacts to oils and sweat in your skin. This happens very quickly with silver jewellery, as the copper is always in contact with your skin.
For gold-plated jewellery, once the layer of gold wears away, the skin comes into contact with the copper below and that dreaded green colour appears. Lower carat gold or gold-plated jewellery can even have copper lurking in the gold alloy itself which can cause the green discolouration as soon as you wear it.
Luckily, you’ll never have to worry about one of our PVD coated gold rings turning your finger green as stainless steel does not react to skin in this way.
All of our jewellery goes through a PVD (physical vapour deposition) coating process, which makes the gold coating extremely durable and 10x thicker than gold-plating. It's this process that not only makes our jewellery waterproof but it is also sweatproof, perfume proof and it won't fade or tarnish.
316L stainless steel is a type of low-carbon stainless steel that is a great metal for people with sensitive skin, as although it can contain traces of nickel, it does not release anywhere near as much nickel as other types of metal (around 0.02μg/cm2/week, 10 times less than the Nickel Directive deems safe.) This is because, even though it contains low amounts of nickel, it is made with a high level of corrosion resistance. As a result, 316L stainless steel is considered hypoallergenic and safe to wear for people with metal allergies and is often used for medical implants as well.
Unfortunately nothing can be promised to work 100% of the time. If you haven’t worn earrings in a while or had a reaction recently the ears can flare up. Giving the ears time to heal and building up the time worn can really help. We do have alternative metals that are a good option for people (less than 5%) who can’t wear stainless steel. Titanium is a great alternative. We have 2 grades, implant grade and pure titanium.
